Is 30 too young for anti-wrinkle injections? The truth about preventative treatment

Preventative anti-wrinkle treatment guide

The question we're asked most often by younger clients is some version of: "Am I too young for this?" The honest answer is that there's no single right age to start aesthetic treatments — it depends entirely on your skin, your genetics and your goals. But the idea that anti-wrinkle injections are only for older clients is outdated and isn't supported by the evidence.

What is preventative anti-wrinkle treatment?

Preventative anti-wrinkle injections work on a simple principle: lines and wrinkles form where the skin is repeatedly creased by muscle movement over time. By relaxing those muscles before deep, permanent lines become established, we can slow the formation of wrinkles significantly.

Think of it like this — a piece of paper that's folded once can be flattened almost completely. A piece of paper that's been folded in the same place hundreds of times will always show the crease. Skin behaves similarly.

What does the evidence say?

Anti-wrinkle injections have been used in aesthetic medicine for over 30 years and have an extensive safety record. Studies consistently show that clients who begin preventative treatment in their late 20s or 30s tend to require less product over time as the muscles soften — and that the formation of deep, established lines is genuinely reduced with early intervention.

"Clients who start preventative treatment earlier often need less product over time — the muscles adapt and the results become more natural with each visit."

Is it right for everyone in their 20s and 30s?

Not necessarily. At your consultation, we assess whether you have dynamic lines — lines that appear when you make an expression but disappear when your face is relaxed — and whether treatment is appropriate and proportionate for your skin. We would never recommend treatment purely on the basis of age, and we will always be honest if we feel you would benefit more from a skincare routine than from injectables.

What we would never do is suggest you wait until lines are deeply established before doing anything — by that point, treatment becomes corrective rather than preventative, and the results require more product and more maintenance to achieve.

Our advice

If you're in your late 20s or 30s and noticing the beginning of lines on your forehead or around your eyes, the most useful thing you can do is book a free consultation. We'll assess your skin, talk through your concerns, and give you an honest recommendation — which might be treatment, might be skincare advice, or might be a combination of both. There's no pressure and no commitment required.
